- The National Symposium for AIOC 2011 (2 hours) are:
- Cutting Edge Technology in Ophthalmology
- Infection Control in Ophthalmic Surgeries
- The number of halls will be 10.
- The sessions will run continuously but there will be a short changeover time between
sessions.
- All submissions for the scientific program will be possible “Online” only at the
AIOS Website www.aios.org from 1st April 2010.
- Deadlines which are given below will be strictly adhered to and submission forms
will automatically disappear once the deadline gets over.

- Consent from co-instructors for participation in an Instruction Course has been
made mandatory as of last year. Once a Course is submitted online by the Chief Instructor
an automatic self-generated email will be sent to the Co-instructors to send their
consent within a week.
- Each Co-instructor can consent for a maximum of only 5 Instruction Courses thus
ensuring wider participation.
- 2 hours Instruction Courses can have a maximum of 8 Co-instructors and one hour
Course can have a maximum of 4 Co-instructors. Beyond this the Online submission
form will not accept.
- We want the scientific content of the annual conference of AIOS to truly represent
the rich & varied talents of our members. So do participate by sending in your submissions
in time.
- Each Free Paper will have a duration of only 6 minutes.
- As in last year a best paper award will be given under every section.
- All Video submissions will be for 10 minutes each. The categories are:
- Thematic - The Theme for 2011 is GLAUCOMA.
- Anterior Segment
- Posterior Segment
- General.
- E-posters will be continued as in last year.
- There are a plethora of awards to be given away in 2011. You may have just the right
credentials to receive one. Do visit the AIOS website or go through the last year’s
abstract book to know more about them and apply for them in an appropriate manner
and well in time. The last date for applying for awards is July 31, 2010.
Do involve yourself in the AIOS Mailing group of the Scientific Committee and share
your queries and knowledge for the benefit of our fraternity. More than 450 queries
covering almost the entire gamut of ophthalmology have been discussed so far & all
the past queries & responses are available as knowledge base in the mailing group.
A 666-page “Ready Reckoner in Ophthalmology” was released at AIOC2010. Those who
have not collected their copy at the Conference or not sent a request to me, please
send in your request by email with AIOS Membership No., current address, & mobile
number. Only a limited number of copies are available for further distribution.
